The foam backing excellently compensates for surface irregularities, while the modified acrylate adhesive provides good initial tack as well as high static shear strength at 23 °C and 40 °C. The tape is equipped with a brown release liner (weight 80 g/m², thickness 70 µm) and offers moderate resistance to plasticizers and chemicals, as well as moderate resistance to UV aging. With a total thickness of 540 µm, an elongation at break of 250%, and a tensile strength of 6.66 N/cm, tesafix® 4976 is ideal for the permanent bonding of plastics and metals, such as ABS, aluminum, PC, PE, PET, PP, PS, PVC, and steel. The tape is temperature-resistant up to 80 °C for long-term use and up to 200 °C for short-term use, with low moisture resistance.

Key Features

Backing material: PU foam (PUR foam tape)

Adhesive: modified, age-resistant acrylate

Tape color: black

Release liner: brown release paper, 70 µm, 80 g/m²

Tape thickness: 540 µm

Elongation at break: 250%; Tensile strength: 6.66 N/cm

Plasticizer resistance: medium

Moisture resistance: low

Chemical resistance: moderate

UV resistance: moderate

Static shear strength at 23 °C and 40 °C: good

Temperature resistance: up to 80 °C for extended periods, up to 200 °C for short periods

High adhesion to many substrates, e.g., ABS, aluminum, PC, PE, PET, PP, PS, PVC, steel (initial and improved after 14 days)

Available sizes: 50 m x 15 mm; 50 m x 19 mm

Shear-resistant, with a release liner for easy application

Applications

Installation of mirrors (not in damp areas)

Bonding of signs and trim

Self-adhesive finishing of profiles and moldings

Installation of window muntins

Spacers in furniture and interior construction

Fastening of cable channels

Installation of various items in retail, trade show, and interior design applications

Leveling uneven and rough surfaces

Summary

tesafix® 4976 PUR foam tape, black, is the ideal mounting tape for anyone who needs a durable, shear-resistant, and reliable bond on challenging surfaces.
